Every day is an adventure

Image
This week there has been little sun and plenty of both snow and rain in Finland. But one should never forget that every day is a unique adventure no matter where you are or what you do. On cold and dark days, one especially needs to enjoy all the little things life has to offer.  My past week's little joys include great dance classes, Italian lace delights, new perfume, helpful friends and the positive feedback I have received about my blog. My Mondays are always rescued since I can upload so much positive energy in 70 minutes of salsa. I cannot explain how much I enjoy the fast paced classes with long choreographies. So energizing! What comes to Italian lace delights, one of my weak points is the Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi. Unfortunately their online shop does not deliver to Finland. Luckily my colleague travelled to Italy, so I could get this lovely lace bralette top in two different colors, grey and blue. It certainly does not go unnoticed! It is suitab...

5 top reasons to love Italy

Image
People often ask me why I love Italy. I could list numerous reasons, but I chose five top reasons why I choose to travel back to Italy over and over again. 1. The infinite variety of amazing sceneries The beauty of the country is astonishing. It is no wonder why many Italians prefer to stay in Italy for their holidays. I know I could do the same if living there. The variety inside the country offers you countless possibilities with unique sceneries: the mountains, the lakes, the sea, the beaches, the hills, the lagoons, the islands, the numerous historical sites... I am always amazed how could man create so much beauty in one country. 2. The Italian sense of fashion and beauty There is no other fashion country like Italy if you ask me. The people know how to dress up and they enjoy doing it. Just have a look at the shoes of an Italian man - the shoes are shining. Something you rarely experience in Finland, I must say. The Italian women know how t...

Autumn vibes

Image
This weekend I enjoyed taking it easy outdoors. The autumn in Finland is at its best on sunny but chilly days like these. Worth to take advantage of these days since the days are getting cooler and frost is in the air. The winter is already looming around the corner. The colors of autumn leaves are amazing. A lovely mix of green, auburn, red, gold and copper. The color show is something that certainly captures your attention. "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” - Albert Camus Seurasaari Island is a great place for enjoying the nature and outdoor activities. On the island there is a popular open-air museum, its buildings representing various aspects of living in Finland along the centuries. Both locals and tourists are attracted by its rural and peaceful atmosphere. It is located just a stone's throw from the city centre of Helsinki.

The perfect manicure shade to reflect the autumn

Image
One of my monthly pleasures is to get my nails done. I have been visiting for years the nail salon Studio Diamond Nails in Helsinki for my manicure - the best place for service and quality. My this month's manicure shade is a perfect deep shade of bordeaux. I added some sparkle to it with some diamonds and pearls. Nails can be like miniature mood boards and reflect the current season. These wine-colored nails suit well my autumn mood. What comes to traveling, I am not vacation-ready until my nails are done. Preferably both manicure and pedicure. Here are some examples of my various holiday manicures. I also have two favorite shades I prefer to choose, if I do not come up with some new ideas: hot red and nude. You can never go wrong with them, they go along with any outfit as well. Next on my list is to try out the shade of deep emerald. Maybe on November.

Cafetino - a piece of Greece to enjoy on a Sunday

Image
When the autumn hits, I immediately start to miss the sun and plan my next escape to Greece or some other sunny destination. On a lazy Sunday like this, I feel like the cat in my travel photo taken in Mykonos this summer. Fortunately, the day was chilly but sunny, so I decided to go out and ease my travel ache by visiting my favorite Greek restaurant-cafĂ© in Helsinki. In case you are in Finland and love Greece, I highly recommend to stop by at Cafetino , located in Uudenmaankatu, Helsinki. Original taste of Greece and excellent service with a lovely setting. The place is hosted by Giorgos who always welcomes you with a friendly smile. E verything he does comes from his heart and the whole place is filled with positivity. Many local Greeks visit the place as well, which adds the place's authentic flavor.  For lunch you have always few Greek choices, and they truly taste like home-made! Everything is made by the owner himself. You can also grab your lunch as a t...
