The Venetian escape

Image
In one of my blogs before Christmas I told that Venice during winter is on my travel list. Well, now I can tick the box since this year's first trip was to a Venetian escape during the carnival time. To be honest, I must say, I waited so much more of the carnival itself. The city was only active during daytime but once the sun went down, it was way too quiet, almost even dead to me. Compared to all the other carnivals I have been around the globe, this was the most peaceful ever. :D But the costumes and masques are amazing to see though. And of course you need to buy a masque of your own! The shops selling the hand-made masks are worth experiencing.  But Venice itself is an amazing place, something to experience at least once in a lifetime. The best way to explore it is by letting yourself get lost in it - then you will end up finding the most unique spots that you would never find in its most touristic areas. If you are looking...

A quick visit to Turku on a Sunday

Image
During this weekend  I made a quick visit to Turku , in South-West Finland. Despite of the limited time, I managed to enjoy a nice walk by the riverfront of the River Aura and around the city center. The weather was a bit warmer again, +8C, so I could actually wear my forest green dress with a lighter jacket and feel comfortable. Yay! My friend introduced me a new restaurant, called Tres. I chose four different tapas, really tasty and especially nicely presented. I also enjoyed the small decoration details they had in the restaurant. To sum it up - a quite nice experience. Once in Turku, I can never skip the Italian ice cream of Gelateria Nuvole. This time I opted for a mix of Anguria (watermelon) and Cioccolato (chocolate), a perfect combination. And guess what? I immediately started thinking of traveling to Italy...

Cafetino - a piece of Greece to enjoy on a Sunday

Image
When the autumn hits, I immediately start to miss the sun and plan my next escape to Greece or some other sunny destination. On a lazy Sunday like this, I feel like the cat in my travel photo taken in Mykonos this summer. Fortunately, the day was chilly but sunny, so I decided to go out and ease my travel ache by visiting my favorite Greek restaurant-cafĂ© in Helsinki. In case you are in Finland and love Greece, I highly recommend to stop by at Cafetino , located in Uudenmaankatu, Helsinki. Original taste of Greece and excellent service with a lovely setting. The place is hosted by Giorgos who always welcomes you with a friendly smile. E verything he does comes from his heart and the whole place is filled with positivity. Many local Greeks visit the place as well, which adds the place's authentic flavor.  For lunch you have always few Greek choices, and they truly taste like home-made! Everything is made by the owner himself. You can also grab your lunch as a t...
