The elegance of fashionable Milan during Xmas

Milan is an amazing city filled with art, design, culture and fashion - all first-class. It is a vibrant business city where after-work drinks are a form of art. If you ask me, I have never enjoyed Milan as much as I did during Christmas time and New Year two years ago - it is truly worth experiencing. The decorations and elegance is beyond comparison.

My favorite sight is Il Duomo cathedral, right in the heart of the city. It looks amazing during Christmas time, especially in the evenings. Milan is also the home for one of the most famous opera stages in the world, La Scala.

Anyone passionate about fashion will truly enjoy this city. A visit to the beautiful Galleria Vittorio, an ancient and glamorous arcaded shopping gallery, as well as a stroll along the Quadrilatero d’Oro, the luxury fashion district, is a must. This world famous quadrangle of streets is definitely worth a window-shopping tour, even though you could not afford the luxuries.

The food, a characteristic feature of any Italian city, is excellent in Milan, and there is a great variety of stunning, modern restaurants. A traditional Christmas dessert is panettone, a sweet bread loaf originating from Milan. Also desserts filled with nuts are common.

Milan is a trendy city with active nightlife - it offers plenty of bars and nightclubs to choose from. The Navigli district with its variety of bars is truly worth exploring as well as the lively Brera. Or how about a night out in pure Cavalli style? The Just Cavalli Restaurant and Club is something to experience. Not to forget that Milan has also great options for dancing salsa. The restaurant Guantanamera is a great place to enjoy Cuban food and music.

Milan acts as a gateway to other amazing destinations nearby such as lake Como or Verona. You can rent a car and easily visit the nearby destinations. Outside Milan you can find plenty of outlet stores. My favorites are the Armani Outlet and the Franciacorta Outlet Village. You can plan a daytrip to lake Como and visit the Armani Outlet, whereas in Franciacorta you might need all day, depending on your shopping mania.

Milan represents the 'modern Italy' at its best. If you prefer to experience the Italian lifestyle filled with elegance, Milan is definitely worth a visit.
