Perfect city break options for winter
Looking for great options for a city break during winter? I know I am. On the top of my own wish list is definitely to visit Venice during winter. Let's see if my dream comes true.
December is a magical time to visit cities like Rome or Paris. I could never get tired of walking along the streets of Rome when the city is all lit up and decorated. My favorite areas to walk include the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), via del Corso, via dei Coronari, and Piazza Navona. I also enjoy just sitting outside in the heated terraces of the many cafés and restaurants.
The Italian food is always delicious but especially during Christmas time there are some special seasonal delicacies available.
Or how about festive Paris, 'the city of lights'? December is definitely one of my favorite times to visit Paris. The Champs Elysées and Place Vendôme with the abundant Christmas decorations as well as the nearby shimmering Eiffel Tower are somewhat breathtaking.
The Parisian department stores, 'grands magasins', are perfect places to experience the lights displays and decorations - the facades and windows are worth seeing with their imaginative scenes. I also love the atmosphere around the ice skating rink in front of Hôtel de Ville. Walking around at nightfall and seeing the city's finest monuments illuminated is one of my preferred things.
But along these two amazing European capitals, I highly recommend to experience cities like Milan, Verona or Valencia during winter. They all have surprised me positively. In my following blogs I will tell you more about them.
So stay tuned!

The Vatican's Saint Peters square is one of the prettiest places to be during Christmas, especially its Nativity Scene is worth seeing. The winter sales in Rome begin sometime the first week in January - another good reason to visit the city during winter season. You are bound to find nice bargains.
