Zen moments - Saying goodbye to 2017

Image
How was your Xmas? Hopefully full of special moments and peace and love with your loved ones. I did enjoy mine and I received some very special gifts as well. I must say, they truly warmed my heart. But my very favorite one was finding a fortune cookie among my presents, saying: "You will always have luck in your personal affairs." <3   On Boxing Day, we had some great fun with my goddaughter preparing some Cuban tostones. I must say my goddaughter was a quick learner. :D And a visit to my hometown Vaasa is not complete without enjoying a delicious pizza at my favorite Pizza Bistro Marco Polo. Tastes simply divine every time! Along the festivities, I have also enjoyed some peaceful, zen moments. The pretty white and snowy sceneries were amazing during Christmas. Although I am not a big fan of winter, I do enjoy snow during Xmas time here in Finland. I have used the last days also for saying goodbye to this endin...

Pre-Christmas magic

Image
Hope your pre-Christmas time has gone well. Despite of all the things going on and a sudden flu, I have managed to decorate my home for Christmas and spend some special pre-festive moments during the past weeks. This is the second Christmas I have decided to put a Christmas tree, a plastic one though, but I must say I love to see it shining. This year, I chose to decorate it with my very favorite items of various decorations bought around the world. And along the decorations I have added some Christmas lights and candles to brighten the darkest time of the year here in Finland. But most of all I have enjoyed preparing some great get-togethers with my dearest. Those moments have been special and the memories will last a lifetime. Time spent together is the best gift anyone can give to one another. I know this week will be a hectic one especially for those with children, but I hope each of us would remember to relax and just be grateful for all...

Finland 100 years

Image
Amazing isn't it that Finland, my home country, is already 100 years old. The actual celebrations were held on the Independence Day 6.12.2017. Helsinki, the capital, was full of celebrating people and the city was decorated with blue and white lights, the colors of the Finnish flag.  It was also great to see how this special moment was noticed and celebrated worldwide in so many countries. My favorite was to see the Colosseum in Rome decorated with blue and white lights in the Italian tv. Although I love traveling and could even see myself living in Italy or Spain, I am proud to be a Finnish citizen. It has an excellent education system which has provided me a good ground for my life. Finland is also still a relatively clean and safe country. Its nature is beautiful in its own unique way. My favorite place in my home country will always be our summer house with its peaceful setting and sceneries. It is a place were I would always want t...

The elegance of fashionable Milan during Xmas

Image
Milan is an amazing city filled with art, design, culture and fashion - all first-class. It is a vibrant business city where after-work drinks are a form of art. If you ask me, I have never enjoyed Milan as much as I did during Christmas time and New Year two years ago - it is truly worth experiencing. The decorations and elegance is beyond comparison. My favorite sight is Il Duomo cathedral, right in the heart of the city. It looks amazing during Christmas time, especially in the evenings. Milan is also the home for one of the most famous opera stages in the world, La Scala. Anyone passionate about fashion will truly enjoy this city. A visit to the beautiful Galleria Vittorio, an ancient and glamorous arcaded shopping gallery, as well as a stroll along the Quadrilatero d’Oro, the luxury fashion district, is a must. This world famous quadrangle of streets is definitely worth a window-shopping tour, even though you could not afford the luxuries. ...
