Throwback to island hopping in the Bay of Naples
Planning a trip to Naples or Amalfi coast? How about including some island hopping to your holiday plans? Most people visit the famous Capri or the more rustic Ischia. But why not add the less known beautiful island of Procida to your plans as well.
All three islands are definitely worth visiting - three very different jewels in the southern Italian Mediterranean. An easy ferry ride away from Naples or the Amalfi coast, you can either do a daytrip or plan to stay longer. Just looking at my old travel pictures made me want to travel back again...

Ischia is a total opposite to the glitzy Capri. Being a volcanic island, Ischia has its own distinctive character with its various thermal spas. Ischia is the largest island in the Bay of Naples so it offers a lot to experiment.
The nature is strongly present on the island. Due to its volcanic soil, the Mediterranean plants just thrive around the island, so no wonder it is also called the Green Island. The Castello Aragonese, located on an island in the town of Ischia, is among the most stunning monuments on the island. Several interesting towns are located along the island's coastline. So touring around the island by boat, bus or car is a must. A great tip for a hotel is the boutique hotel Marina 10 - highly recommended. They even offered nice gluten-free options for breakfast and the service was so polite.
Procida, the smallest island in the Bay of Naples, is just amazing with its stunningly colorful houses. It is a well-hidden secret and refreshingly different! Its laid-back atmosphere is very nice and cosy. I have only visited it on a daytrip but I would definitely next time opt to stay overnight there. The views are just fabulous once you climb up the narrow streets. So no wonder this island has been a film set for several films like The Postman. And just look at those colorful houses - aren't they adorable?
Have a great Sunday! :)
